Assistant Principal Overseeing Athletics
We would like to welcome you to Boulder Creek High School. We strongly encourage you to take advantage of all the opportunities available to you during your time here. This will be a very fast and exciting time for you as you begin your quest towards independence and adulthood.
I have been a part of the Anthem community and Boulder Creek since their conception. My family was one of the “first families” of Anthem, and I was the original Golf coach who was very fortunate to have an excellent group of student/athletes who won our school’s first State Championship, in our 3rd year as a school. I come from a family of educators with both my parents and my wife’s in education, as well as my wife being a teacher, and a Librarian in this district. I grew up in the Boston area and finally settled down here at Arizona State University and graduated with a BA in Education. After that, I attended the University of Southern California for my Masters in Athletic Administration. I grew up in a bilingual household and am bilingual. I have been a head coach at the high school level for boys and girls basketball, baseball, track and field, and golf. I have been fortunate to win several State Championships in Golf and Track and Field. I have been a Physical Education, Health, American Sign Language, World History, and American History teacher, and an Athletic Director at three other high schools for over 28 years.
Three of my four sons graduated from Boulder Creek, the first graduated from Goldwater in the IB Program. My son’s played tennis, volleyball, football, soccer, baseball, and track and field. All of my sons went to college, and as of now three of them have graduated, one is pursuing his Doctorate in Engineering.
As an Athletic Director, I emphasize the term Student/Athlete, because we are students first and foremost! Athletics are important in teaching discipline, responsibility, and social skills, but it is a privilege to be an athlete, being a student must be the main focus.
I am very excited to be the Athletic Director here at a school and community that I have been a part of from the beginning. Please let me know how we can work together to make Boulder Creek one of the top High Schools in Arizona, and the country!
