Sandra Day O’Connor
Boulder Creek High School
First, we want to thank all the teacher that came out to support our program and allowing us to honor you!
This is the 4th time this season that your Boulder Creek Jaguars faced the O’Connor Eagles. OC took the first 3 matches (2 of which at a neutral tournament), but each time BC was improving and gaining confidence. This night was nothing short of a battle. Both teams struggled in the sets that they lost with passing and service errors. Both teams play a very strong in system game able to side out quickly and effectively on good passes.
BC came out fired up in the 5th set serving aggressive and playing with loads of passion. They were up 7-0 at the start of the match and traded points the rest of the set, not allowing OC to push more than 2 points in a row 1 time. This was a big win for BC and a great fought match across the board.
Player of the Match was Lacey Zerwas who led her team offensively with a .500% hitting percentage with 9 kills, 3 blocks, 3 aces and 46 assist. Lacey is currently leading the Region in hitting percentage and assists.
Other key players for the match were Libero Kailey Holm who passed a 2.4 in serve receive and had 33 digs. Offensively Mckenna Ross led with 15 kills and 3 blocks and Robbi Hostetler had 11 kills and 4 blocks of her own.
*for a detailed look at stats take a look at Max Preps. AIA365 also has a breakdown of leaders in stats by position. Most of our BC starters are ranked in the top 10 in our 6A conference the Desert Valley Region. And Lacey Zerwas, Robbie Hostetler, and Kailey Holm are in the top 10 in there position for all of 6A combined.
JV won there match in 3 as well playing an equally hard fought match. Freshman fell short in 2.
Come watch us play in our last regular season HOME game tonight 10/19/16 against Pinnacle!
